The Traditional Executive Team Is Starting To Change

Companies need more executive capability. That doesn't always mean they need another permanent executive seat.

Not because companies need less leadership.

Because they're starting to need it differently.

Over the last few months, I've been talking with founders, operators, fractional executives, and business leaders about a pattern that keeps showing up:

Companies need more executive capability.

That doesn't always mean they need another permanent executive seat.

Sometimes they do.

Sometimes they need the capability before they need the title.

Sometimes several functions have to move together.

And sometimes what looks like a leadership gap is really an operating-model problem.

The more conversations we had, the more questions came up:

  • Where are companies actually using fractional executives today?
  • What makes those relationships work?
  • Where do they break down?
  • How are AI and new operating models changing executive work?
  • And what will the leadership team of the next few years actually look like?

So we decided to stop guessing.

ExecPods is running a short survey called How Executive Leadership Is Changing.

We're using the results, along with executive interviews and other research, to help shape an upcoming white paper on where fractional and executive leadership models are heading.

If you're a founder, executive, investor, operator, or fractional leader, I'd genuinely value your perspective.

There's no sales gate behind it. We're trying to learn.

Survey: How Executive Leadership Is Changing

And if there's something about how executive leadership is changing that we forgot to ask?

I'd be even more interested in hearing that. Tell us through the contact form.
